One day after finding 23 more cats, Tacoma Animal Control found six additional cats on board a Tacoma boat just off Owen Beach.

Tacoma police said that after rescuing 60 cats, they “believe” all the cats are off the boat.

“That’s a wrap! The final cat is off the boat,” the Tacoma Police Department wrote on Facebook Tuesday. “Fur real this time!”

That being said, Tacoma PD took to Facebook Wednesday and added that since cats excel at hiding, they are going to continue their search throughout the week.

They also asked the public to send any photos they may have of cats on board the abandoned boat if they see any this week, and urged anyone nearby to stay off the boat.

As of Aug. 12, the owner of the boat has not been found.

In Tacoma, pet owners are not allowed to have more than six licensed cats and dogs.

This specific case could be considered a hoarding case under the state’s animal cruelty law. If found, the owner could face fines, jail time, or even a lifetime ban from owning pets.
