Tanker truck leaks propane at Port of Tacoma

Port of Tacoma has reopened after a truck began spewing its load of propane Monday morning.
Tacoma Fire battalion chief Jim Zuluaga said a hose broke around 10:30 a.m. as the truck was transferring fuel to a smaller tank on Alexander Avenue.
“It appears that the hose line, which connected the two during the transfer process, ruptured,” said Zuluaga.
Workers were moved away and an area was blocked off for about two hours between State Route 509 and Pacific Highway East. No injuries were reported.
The truck had a capacity of 2,500 gallons, but it’s not known how much propane the tanker was carrying.
Port operations were not impacted.
