Tax free weekend aimed at school shopping pushed in Olympia

The legislature wants to save you a bunch of money on back-to-school shopping. It’s considering a tax-free weekend where you can load-up for less.
The state legislature is considering the tax free weekend for school supplies under $10 and clothing under $100.
State Rep. Jim Moeller is pushing the idea to help struggling families and to encourage others to shop. “To save a couple of dollars to be able to pay that mortgage and put food on the table and clothes on your kids,” he said. “In these rough times, every dime helps.”
Several states have these tax free weekends, and some report higher sales than during Black Friday.
Before it would be put in place, if it’s passed, the state would have to review how much sales tax revenue Washington would lose over a busy shopping weekend such as this.
