The Seattle Police Department (SPD) is investigating after a man was shot in the ankle in Belltown Tuesday night.

Officers say about 10:30 p.m., SPD responded to 4th Avenue and Battery Street for reports of gunshots, where officers found a 30-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his ankle.

Seattle Fire Department medics treated the man at the scene, and he was taken to Harborview Medical Center.

The victim told officers two men tried robbing him. When he refused to give over his stuff, one of the men pulled out a gun and shot at the man’s feet, hitting him in the ankle.

The two suspects ran off, and officers collected shell casings at the scene and documented ballistic damage to a nearby car.

Detectives will continue to investigate this incident.
