The Crime Blotter: Wild ride for Kirkland car thief caught on video

The Kirkland Police Department is investigating a break-in at Doug’s Auto Tune & Repair that happened just about 5 a.m. on Monday, August 29, in the Totem Lake neighborhood.

Video surveillance shows two suspects pulling up in a blue, 4-door station wagon. The main suspect smashed the front glass door to get inside the shop. The same suspect found a red Ford Fusion parked in the auto repair bay. The vehicle was blocked in, but the suspect rammed his way out, hitting other cars and property until he maneuvered the Ford Fusion out of the vehicle bay, stealing the car. While Kirkland patrol officers were still at the scene, Bellevue Police located the Ford Fusion stolen during the burglary and arrested the driver. Kirkland Police is investigating whether the individual found driving the Ford Fusion was involved in the burglary at Doug’s Auto Tune & Repair on August 29. Investigators are still looking for the suspect’s vehicle, a blue 4-door station wagon with a spare tire and damage to the driver-side rear wheel well. It appears to be a new model, Subaru. The second suspect who drove the stolen red Ford Fusion out of the shop is also pictured: A suspect vehicle with a spare tire and damage to the driver-side rear wheel well. KPD is asking the public for any information on this second suspect to call the Kirkland Police Department’s tip line at (425) 587-3515.

Tukwila Police interrupt burglary

Just after 1 a.m., Tukwila Police Officers responded to a burglary alarm at a business in the 200 block of Minkler Blvd. When officers arrived, they observed a Jeep Gladiator parked directly in front of the business door. As officers approached the door, a suspect in the vehicle spotted the officers and fled in the car at a high rate of speed while honking their horn. The vehicle shortly circled back around with the driver still honking the horn and fled the scene. Tukwila Police say two veteran officers recognized the honking as an audible warning to others inside. Their instincts were correct as they spotted a 35-year-old man from Seattle wearing a ski mask and gloves standing at the pried-open doors of the business. The suspect spotted the officers and tried running away. Officers went after the suspect, and one of them tackled the suspect and arrested him. The suspect was booked into jail on burglary charges. Seattle Police arrest suspect connected to deadly Aurora shooting

Officers arrested the suspect in a deadly shooting in North Seattle. A 47-year-old man was arrested last night on Aurora Avenue. Seattle Police say on Tuesday morning at 12:15, a 44-year-old man was killed, and a 46-year-old man suffered a minor graze wound. Members of SPD’s Crime Scene Investigation worked the scene. Homicide Detectives are leading the investigation.

Seattle public urination ends in assault charges

Early Friday morning, Seattle Police Officers witnessed a man urinating on a building in the 900 block of E. Pike Street. The suspect spat on an officer and tried headbutting another officer. He was arrested and ended up with a bloody nose, claiming his face hit the sidewalk. Officers say once they got the man in the patrol car, he kicked the window bars hard enough to bend the door frame and slammed his head into the partition. He was taken to jail and booked for assault and malicious mischief. The man declined medical aid, and no officers were injured. Have a tip on a crime story?
