Threats on social media prompt arrest of two Tacoma teens

Feb 25, 2018, 8:26 PM

Tacoma police arrested two teenagers who they say made threats to people at their schools.

On Friday, TPD received information about a 15-year-old who made threats on social media to people at Truman Middle School. With help from the Tacoma School District, officers located the 12-year-old, interviewed him and developed probable cause to arrest and book him into Remann Hall for intimidation and threats.

Officers say they recovered a weapon at the boy’s residence.

On Saturday, TPD received information about a 15-year-old who made threats on social media to people at Lincoln High School. Police say they received several tips after seeing photos on social media and were concerned for the safety of students. The teen was eventually located on Sunday, interviewed, and booked into Remann Hall for intimidation and threats.

Washington State Teacher of 2016, Nate Bowling, tweeted Sunday night, “I’m having to assure students it’s safe to come to school tomorrow, because there was a threat of a shooting. Life as a teacher in 2018 is incredibly tedious and stupid.”
