Train snags lines, snaps power poles in Shelton

The cleanup continues in Shelton after a piece of equipment on a lumber train snagged some power lines, snapping power poles and knocking out electricity to about 700 customers in the Mason County town.
“As the train continued on, it pulled down five large poles along Cota Street in downtown get snapped off,” says Joel Myer with Mason County PUD.
Some live power lines landed on a car and trapped a woman inside for about an hour after the incident that happened around 10:20 a.m. Thursday morning.
“Luckily, she knew about electricity and knew to stay in her car, she did exactly the right thing,” he says. The woman wasn’t injured.
Crews were hoping to get power restored to most customers by Thursday evening.
