An active case of tuberculosis has been linked to Rainier Beach High School.

Public Health-Seattle and King County stated via a news release that about 130 students and staff will be tested based on their exposure.

Officials said it’s just a precaution as tuberculosis is not easy to spread. It usually requires long, close indoor contact.

If anyone is found to be infected, Public Health will help connect them with treatment.

Person infected no longer contagious

The person with tuberculosis is now receiving treatment and is no longer contagious.

Most cases of tuberculosis are treatable with antibiotics, with treatment typically taking six to nine months.
