Two brothers are accusing the Tukwila Police Department of excessive force after they were arrested on a walk home over the summer.
Jahmez Amili said he and his brother, Charles Chappelle, were unjustly beaten by three Tukwila Police Officers who were responding to reports of a fight nearby.
Amili told Q13 the two did nothing wrong, and complied with every request.
“He told me to get on the ground,” Amili said. “I got on the ground instantly and the next thing I know I’m getting punched in the face and sprayed with mace.”
Dash-cam video shows at least two of the officers punching the men while they were on the ground. The arrest report says the two had refused the officers’ orders, and one of them punched an officer during the arrest.
The two plan to sue the city. Tukwila police have launched an internal investigation.
