Tukwila firefighter struck, seriously injured responding to crash

A Tukwila firefighter is hospitalized in serious condition after he was hit by a car while responding to an accident Saturday night.
The firefighter was talking with the driver of the car that crashed near the onramp to northbound I-5 from southbound I-405 at approximately 5:50pm when a second vehicle smashed into the car and the firefighter, the Tukwila Fire Department said in a statement.
He was treated at the scene by by other members of the Tukwila Fire Department and South King County paramedics and transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the first vehicle was injured in the single vehicle accident but his injuries were not life threatening, officials said. No one was injured in the second car that hit the firefighter.
The Washington State Patrol is investigating.
