Seattle police are investigating two anti-gay assaults that occurred over the weekend that included a man being jumped.

The man was walking in the 500 block of Bellevue Avenue East when two people shoved him to the ground, kicked him and shouted homophobic slurs, according to police.

The man was taken to the hospital where he was treated for injuries to his hands, leg and face. He required stitches on his chin.

The suspects in that incident were described as white males, 20 to 30 years old, wearing baseball caps.

A second assault occurred on Sunday at approximately 10 p.m. when two men holding hands walked past a man sitting on a bench. The man on the bench began spitting and shouting slurs at the two men. He then began to follow them.

The two men ignored the suspect, who eventually walked away.

The suspect was described as a “Hispanic” male, about 5 feet 10 inches and wearing black clothing, according to police.

Investigators are working to locate surveillance video or other evidence of the assaults.

The assaults follow the announcement of more than 60 businesses partnering with the police department to increase the reporting of bias incidents and reduce crimes against the LGBT community.
