Four people, including two children, were injured in a crash Wednesday night near Port Orchard, the Washington State Patrol (WSP) confirmed.
The crash happened at approximately 8 p.m. Dec. 24, Christmas Eve. A family of four was driving westbound in a Volvo SUV on SR 16 in Kitsap County when the driver, a 47-year-old man, suffered a medical emergency.
The SUV suddenly turned off the road and hit a coffee stand in Gorst. Everyone inside the car suffered injuries — including two children, 5 and 8 years old.
The two adult passengers were wearing seatbelts, according to WSP, while the two children, both sitting in the back seat, were not.
The crash caused both downed power lines and a sewage spill.
“Power lines are also down and there is a sewage spill,” WSP Trooper Katherine Weatherwax stated. “Department of Ecology has been advised.”

“I’m kinda lost for words at the moment! So I will just start by saying I’m so grateful we were closed and the occupants of the car weren’t seriously injured!!” the owner of Sadie Mae’s Coffee, the coffee stand that was hit in the crash, wrote on social media. “Thank you to everyone who has reached out to check on us and the hugs as I arrived on scene! I truly truly appreciate you!!! Please keep us all in your prayers!”
