Two people died after their vehicle crashed into a tree and caught fire in Auburn Wednesday morning.

Valley Regional Fire says the crash occurred at 83rd Avenue South and 277th.

“The initial report came in that the vehicle was fully engulfed in fire and had driven off an embankment,” King County Sheriff’s Sergeant Ryan Abbott said.

The southbound lane of the East Valley Highway is closed.
