Two people are dead after a tree fell on a car in Fall City on Sunday afternoon, according to Eastside Fire and Rescue.

The incident occurred on the 7700 Block of Preston Fall City Road Southeast in Fall City, just east of Issaquah.

A strong storm system is currently making its way across the Puget Sound and is expected to continue through Monday.

Officials on the scene are asking people to avoid the area.

The wind has blown over trees and power lines across the region. About 100,000 customers are without power into Sunday evening. The outages have prompted a handful of school closures.

Brent Bower with the National Weather Service (NWS) said the brunt of the storm may miss the Seattle area entirely.

“The storm system off the coast is going to stay off the coast. It’s not going to come into our area, or the Seattle area,” Bower told KIRO Radio.

“The timing will be starting Sunday and lasting through Monday, so we could have some significant wind. Certainly not going to be the biggest thing we’ve ever had,” he added.

The coastal areas are expected to get hit the hardest by the storm, he says, but it will still likely be rainy across Western Washington this weekend.
