UW student ‘shocked, saddened’ after feces thrown on her at conservative event

A University of Washington student who was volunteering at a Turning Point USA event on campus had feces thrown at her by a protester.
Student Mia Parsons told Fox News at Night that she was checking people in when she felt a sudden blow
“I was just collecting names and putting on wristbands on people, and all of a sudden, when I was talking to someone, something hit me right here in the shoulder and neck area and bounced off me, and I looked down at the table and there was a bag of feces lying there,” she told the media outlet.
Parsons said she was disheartened by the incident but managed to laugh it off.
“I was a little shocked that that just happened, so I took a video, but I was also a little saddened that someone would go out of their way to do something like that and even through it all, I was still praying for the protesters and everyone else’s safety,” she said. “But it was kind of shocking at the moment, but it was also kind of funny, because I was kind of like, ‘I’m glad it was in a bag,’ butt that’s kind of what I thought about it.”

UW student calls for peace amid feces attack
The attack gave Parsons something to reflect on as she continues to lead with compassion, hopeful that society can overcome its divisions.

“It’s kind of crazy that someone would go out of their way to do something disgusting like that,” she told Fox News at Night. “And I kind of shrugged it off, but my thoughts on it are that this should motivate people, going out of their way to be hateful like that is kind of wrong—the U.S. and society as a whole is supposed to be this melting pot that we can be patient and compassionate with each other.”
And so I really think when we remove that patience and compassion and love for one another, it creates that animosity and stuff,” she continued. “So I really think that if we focused on being compassionate and loving to one another, we don’t cross this line of doing something disgusting or hateful like that.”
