Vancouver woman turns to Facebook for kidney transplant

Heather Johnson of Vancouver, WA needs a kidney transplant, so she’s put up a Facebook page to find a live donor.

Johnson has a rare blood type — B-negative — and her kidney’s only work at 5 percent capacity. So she’s put up a “Hope for Heather” Facebook page asking for a live kidney donor.

“Live donors [are] your own responsibility to find somebody, and if you are lucky enough, lucky enough to find one then that’s a blessing,” Johnson told KGW-TV over the weekend.

Even though she’s on the Oregon donor list, it’s going to be a long wait to receive a transplant from a live donor.
