Seattle police say an argument of some sort at Golden Gardens Park ended with a shooting that put a 35-year-old man in the hospital.

Around 8:00 p.m. Saturday, police say someone shot him several times in the neck and chest.

Officers arrived and found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds.

They provided medical aid to the victim.

First responders were also helped by a trauma doctor who just happened to be at the park during the shooting.

Eventually, medics with the Seattle Fire Department took over medical care and transported the injured man to Harborview Medical Center.

The alleged shooter, a 22-year-old man, took off in a black Mercedes.

Later police found that car in Ballard, at 28th N.W. and N.W. Market Street, a couple of blocks east of the Ballard Locks.

There were three people in the Mercedes.

Officers arrested the suspect and recovered a handgun.

Police say the victim suffered life-threatening injuries.

He’s in serious condition.

According to the Seattle Police Blog, officers arrested the suspect during a high-risk, felony traffic stop.

They detained all three people in the car.

Officers say they were able to identify the shooting suspect and make the arrest.

They also seized a handgun discovered during the traffic stop.

Police transported the suspect to Seattle Police Headquarters.

Detectives in the Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU) arrived to investigate.

Officers with the unit interviewed the suspect.

He was expected to be processed into the King County Jail, and could be facing a charge of assault.

It’s believed a verbal incident led to the disturbance and shooting.

Police are asking witnesses, or anyone with more information about what happened, to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.
