Newly obtained body camera footage shows the moments a pilot was found by a Yakima County sheriff’s deputy after his jet crashed, sparking a wildfire.

On June 13, a F-A/18 hornet military fighter jet crashed into a forested area near Rimrock Lake.

Marine Corps Major pilot Jackson Simon was able to self-eject from the jet before it crashed and sparked the fire.

According to CBS News, before the crash, the Marine Corps major had been dazzling lakeside spectators by circling in thunderous, low-flying maneuvers.

Then his fighter jet hit power lines, CBS News said.

Military investigators have yet to blame the crash on the jet hitting those power lines. In June, the U.S. Marine Corps told KIRO 7 that the jet “experienced a non-fatal aviation mishap while conducting routine training.”

Simon was seen on body cam video walking toward a deputy on a nearby roadway. His face is slightly bloody, but he appears to be overall physically unharmed.
