Video: Teen hikers rescued by airlift from Cascades

Two teen hikers reported missing near Mason Lake in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness near Snoqualmie Pass have been rescued after spending several nights stuck in the Cascades.
A Snohomish County helicopter unit spotted Ricardo Perez, 18, of Edmonds and 19-year-old University of Washington student Brian Chim from Mukilteo at about 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, said Sgt. Cindi West of the King County Sheriff’s Office.
“They were hungry, scratched up and tired,” but otherwise doing fine, West said.
A King County Sheriff’s Office helicopter airlifted the two teens from the remote mountain area and transported them to the Bandera State Airport east of North Bend.
According to West, the teens lost track of their trail sometime Sunday and ended up hiking about 17 miles. They were found about seven miles from their car, West said. They had hiked a total of 17 miles and were “a bit dehydrated” when found, she added.
The King County Sheriff’s Office posted a video on YouTube Tuesday afternoon of the rescue.
