Mini doughnut recall hits WA stores including Target, Fred Meyer over undeclared milk

Mini doughnuts sold at Target, Fred Meyer, QFC, and other stores across the U.S., including in Washington, have been recalled due to undeclared milk, a potential allergen.

A Nevada-based bakery, The Better Bakehouse Snack Company, recalled specific lots of its Donutful Chocolate Dipped Vanilla Cake Donuts on Aug. 24, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced.

It remains unclear which stores in Washington offered the recalled product, though the following chains carry the Better Bakehouse doughnuts: Haggen, Fred Meyer, Target, QFC, and Town & Country Market, according to The Tacoma News Tribune.

The product was packaged in 7.05 oz cartons containing 10 mini doughnuts, with UPC: 3 50041 39210 3. The best-if-used-by date is Sept. 15, and the lot code is 26078.

Doughnut recall limited to products manufactured, distributed in March

The recall is limited to specific lots of products manufactured and distributed in March. The product was distributed to retailers nationwide and through Amazon.com.

The FDA noted that the issue arose after an allergic reaction was reported in connection with the recalled product. The individual has fully recovered from the allergic reaction.

A mislabeling issue was identified as the cause by the contract manufacturer, and corrective measures have been taken.

Consumers can dispose of the recalled doughnuts and receive a full refund from their point of purchase with a receipt, or return the product to their point of purchase for a refund.
