Want to be a Skywarn Weather Spotter?

Does weather fascinate you? Is weather a hobby for you? Want to get more involved in weather? How about becoming a Skywarn Weather Spotter?
Skywarn weather spotters are volunteers who report significant weather from home, at work or school, or on the road, to the National Weather Service. Those reports are then shared with the media, the emergency management community, and those in the weather business.
Spotter reports are ‘ground truth’ of what is happening where you are, including how much rain or snow has fallen, how strong the winds are, how dense the fog is, any flooding or landslides, and even wall clouds, funnel clouds and tornadoes. There are over 1,600 Skywarn Weather Spotters in Western Washington and nearly 300,000 across the nation.
Skywarn spotter training gets underway in Western Washington this fall with the first event near Auburn on Sept. 25. To view all the planned area spotter training events and learn more about the program, visit the Skywarn website.
