Want to live in Ireland? British TV looking for Seattle families to swap lives

If you’ve ever wanted to be Irish for a week, now’s your chance. A British TV company is looking for Seattle families to swap lives with a twin town in Ireland.

“They get in the role of the other person’s life,” says Isobel Davies with London-based Knickerbockerglory. “So they do their jobs, the kids go to the same school, they look after the pets. They kind of do whatever the family would be doing if they were at home.”

The producers are seeking unique characters and fun loving families with a sense of adventure for the week-long exchange.

“We’re looking for interesting, specific jobs, maybe someone who’s a sheriff or someone who deals with animals or someone who drives trucks, but mainly, we’re looking for the characters themselves,” Davies says.

The show will be filmed in Galway, Ireland, a charming city of 75,000 on the country’s west coast. All of the travel and living expenses will be paid by the production company, so it’s essentially a working Irish vacation for the lucky families chosen.

Davies says her team will be in Seattle to interview prospective families in the next several weeks, and filming will take place starting in late April.

Unlike many American reality TV shows, Davies says Twin Towns is meant to be entertaining and enlightening without being mean spirited.

“It’s just something that’s going to be fun and enjoyable to watch. We don’t want any arguments or anything. It’s not a wife swappy sort of thing.”
