Snow expected early Tuesday morning across Western Washington

Snowfall around Western Washington could cause traffic delays with slick roads and icy conditions Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service in Seattle reports that 1-3 inches of snow is expected Monday evening and into Tuesday morning. It warns that the morning commute will be impacted. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, with significant snowfall during that time.

The Weather Service said that snow covered roads are to be expected, along with limited viability.

Up to 1 inch of snow is estimated to fall between Bremerton and  Seattle and into neighboring communities. Up to 3 inches could fall between Chehalis and Tacoma. The Weather Service says that the Hood Canal and Olympia areas will receive significant snowfall, as well.

The Cascade Mountains can expect up to 11 inches of fresh powder.

The Weather Service notes that the heaviest snow will likely fall around Tacoma and Shelton.

KIRO 7 reports that the snowfall is likely to be heaviest south of Seattle, with potential for snow patches in the city, and that the snow will turn into rain later on Tuesday.
