The Washington State Patrol is offering a second round of cadet testing, because many candidates in the first round just didn’t make the cut.

The patrol needs to hire 60 new recruits, but so far, many of them aren’t in good enough shape.

“The problem is that they miss the physical fitness. A number of them missed by one sit up or one push up or a couple seconds off their run,” said Dan Coon, with the Washington State Patrol. “We were hoping they could make it, and they just didn’t. They would have made great candidates.”

Coon said they’ll be giving hopefuls another shot.
The patrol will hold another round of tests starting May 30.

“With a little extra time we think those who work diligently can make it,” said Sergeant Troy Tomaras of the agency’s Cadet Testing Section.

Those who didn’t take the test previously are also welcome to try out.

For more information about testing and fitness requirements visit the employment page at the Washington State Patrol website.
