It’s not often you hear the word “doozy,” but the Washington Department of Transportation tweeted out that “this week will be a doozy, weather-wise.”

A dose of winter for Seattle-Tacoma-Everett region this week

Of course, the big question is ‘will it snow in Seattle this week?’ KIRO Newsradio has the very latest: maybe, maybe not.

KIRO 7 meteorologist Nick Allard reportsĀ that it will be breezy with mostly cloudy skies and highs in the 30s and 40s in the metro areas to start the week.

“There are some pockets out there now that have a little bit of wet snow shower activity, but it’s all going to wrap up. So this afternoon, not really much of anything. But tomorrow afternoon, there could be some pockets of snow, and then it would transition to rain by tomorrow night,” Allard said.

Another front will move in on Tuesday, which Allard says will mean it will be “a mix of everything and hard to predict.”

On Wednesday, in Seattle and north of the city, “some accumulating snow in the morning” may turn to a mix in the afternoon.

“We’ll have scattered showers that are leftover if they’re heavy enough, and if we get a little more cold air in the afternoon, we could see some scattered snow,” Allard said. “But right now, the latest computer models put the snow line north of Seattle where Seattle just gets a cold rain or maybe some wet snow showers.”

We think that might be the ‘doozy’ part.

Either way, you know how people drive around here when it’s dark and we’re getting hit with that slushy mix.

The lowland snow usually hits the lowlands from mid-December until late January.

But, as WSDOT tweeted, no matter if the snow comes or not, it’s not a bad idea to winterize your car, and it might be a good time to buy a shovel and ice melt for the driveway.
