Seattle police have a beef with a 50-year-old Seattle man busted Wednesday night with a shopping cart full of stolen meat in South Seattle.
An officer spotted the guy pushing the shopping cart around 11:15 PM on Rainier Avenue near S. McClellan Street.
In an account that just begs for as many bad puns as possible, the Seattle Police Department’s Jonah Spangenthal-Lee outflanked fellow reporters, saying the officer began grilling the man about what he was doing with all of that meat in the middle of the night.
The guy claimed he was taking the cart full of steak and ribs to a friend’s house. But he got skewered when another officer went to the nearby QFC and confirmed the suspect had stolen 13 packages of meat.
The suspect was arrested and sent to the King County Jail on theft charges, where he was given some time to steak out a good seat in the slammer.
The store had to throw away the $263 worth of meat in the rare crime. We don’t name suspects before they are charged, but we have it on good authority the man’s name is not Chuck.
