WinCo Foods has recalled a popular bread item due to an undeclared allergen.
WinCo Foods Brand Hoagie Rolls were recalled because they contain sesame that was not declared on the packaging, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced Thursday.
The recalled rolls have UPC 2-70552-00649-2, with a net weight of 16 ounces (1 pound), or 454 grams, and best-by dates ranging from Sept. 10 through Nov. 3, 2026. The best-by date will be formatted as “Best if used by SEP 9” printed on the bag, the FDA noted.
The hoagie rolls were distributed to WinCo Foods retail stores in California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.
Undeclared sesame could pose serious allergy risk
People with an allergy or severe sensitivity to sesame could experience a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they eat the rolls, according to the FDA.
The manufacturer, United States Bakery, discovered that the packaging did not list sesame flour in the ingredients or allergen statement, prompting the recall. No illnesses have been reported.
Customers with a sesame allergy or sensitivity should not eat the recalled rolls and should return them to their nearest WinCo Foods store for a refund.
