Woman pleads not guilty to fatal stabbing man outside Krispy Kreme

A woman accused of stabbing a man to death in a North
Seattle Krispy Kreme parking lot two weeks ago has pleaded
not guilty.

Prosecutors say Karen Latham, 23, murdered the 54-year-old
man after he gave her a ride to get food. He even gave her
money to buy it.

Before exiting the vehicle, Latham asked for money and when
the victim, Zerabruk Hebtemariam, gave her $5 but no more,
she allegedly stabbed him in the chest.

Officers arrived at the scene and found the victim with a
stab wound. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center,
but later died from his injuries.

Police say they found Latham at a nearby hotel.

She’s been charged with second-degree murder and is being
held on $1 million bail at the King County Jail.
