A woman was stabbed to death in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood on Monday. Later that day, police arrested a 27-year-old man for an unrelated stabbing on Olive Way.

Officers arrived to a report of a stabbing in the 2200 block of First Avenue around 11 a.m. KIRO 7 reports that fire medics arrived to the scene to find a woman dead.

Lanes on First Avenue were closed for hours while homicide detectives investigated.

Later Monday — around 3:30 p.m. — officers responded to the 500 block of Olive Way to investigate a report of another stabbing.

The 33-year-old victim said he was walking down the sidewalk when a man he didn’t know stabbed him. He followed the suspect while he dialed 911. The man was able to identify the 27-year-old suspect when officers arrived.

The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Police found a pocket knife on the suspect. He was booked into King County Jail for felony assault. He also has a felony warrant for escape from community custody.

The two stabbing incidents are unrelated, according to Seattle police.
