Woman’s body found on Everett street, apparently dragged by driver

May 27, 2019, 9:11 AM

Everett police say they’re working to identify the driver who apparently hit a woman and dragged her for nearly a block before taking off.

Investigators say the woman was found in the street at 13th Street and Grand Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Saturday. She was later pronounced dead.

“You could just tell she was lifeless,” said Tanya Denoyer. “It was just hard.”

Denoyer told KIRO 7 she found the woman’s body while out walking her dog.

“I saw a boot, and then I’m like, ‘OK, please tell me that’s not a human being down there,’” said Denoyer. “We walked all the way down, and she was there. Called 911 right away.”

Everett police said first responders performed CPR but the woman was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Denoyer said she’d seen the woman alive about 20 minutes prior to finding her lying in the road.

“I noticed a girl, a lady walking, and she was kind of, like, walking in the street a little bit. I thought that was weird,” said Denoyer. “We kept walking. Twenty minutes later, we came back and saw a bunch of her debris.”

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released an official cause of death or the woman’s name.

Police say the driver’s vehicle may have damage. Officers canvassed the neighborhood for surveillance video and witnesses.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Everett Police Department tip line at 425-257-8450 or Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound at 1-800-222-TIPS.
