A Woodinville attorney whose nephew was killed when a gunman opened fire inside a Newtown, Conn. elementary school has offered gun control recommendations to Vice President Joe Biden.

Alexis Haller’s 6-year-old nephew was shot 11 times by Adam Lanza inside Sandy Hook elementary school. The Dec. 14 massacre claimed the lives of 20 children and six educators.

Haller told KING 5 that his family pledged to make something good come out of Noah’s death.

“We’re fighting for our families. I feel like we’re fighting for children everywhere,” he said.

Haller and his extended family drafted a set of reforms to give to Biden, which include a safekeeping law that would mandate gun owners to keep firearms away from the mentally ill.

Haller said an aide for Biden gave the family positive feedback on their recommendations, buy it is unclear if they will be included in a set of gun control proposals to be revealed on Tuesday.
