City Arts Fest is right around the corner and this thing is going to be huge! The fest runs October 20th-23rd but the one day that you should not miss on any account is Friday, October 22nd. That’s when the men in black will be taking the stage at The Crocodile (no, not the Will Smith/Tommy Lee Jones M.I.B.) but the whiskey swilling, women loving, straight outta the West men in black, Brent Amaker & The Rodeo. These guys have been taking Seattle and the world by storm for the past few years, touring almost non-stop in support of their self titled debut record and the follow-up, Howdy Do, leaving a massive trail of rocked faces and whiskey soaked livers behind them.
Listen to the interview/performance here!
Please Stand By, their third full length, is being released Tuesday, October 19th by Seattle’s Spark & Shine Records on CD, digital and limited edition vinyl. The limited vinyl will come with an accompanying ‘adults only’ comic book called Mescal De La Muerte starring Brent Amaker & The Rodeo, written by Jay Cynik and illustrated by Simon Young. Yes, I have a copy of the comic. Yes, it is completely awesome. Another thing that is completely awesome is the West Seattle Fun Blog will be releasing a couple of pages a day of the comic to whet your appetites for the full release on October 19th.
