Non-sports fans ready for Super Bowl ads, half-time shows

Jan 23, 2012, 12:51 PM | Updated: 3:02 pm

Football fans already have strong opinions on the match-up for Super Bowl Sunday. They’re discussing East Coast popularity versus seeing a West Coast team in the mix. They’re even drawing up X’s and O’s to try out potential plays the teams might run on the big day.

Casual football fans are putting away their team specific jerseys and planning to hold a Super Bowl party or debating which friend’s house has the best TV to host the extravaganza.

Us non-football fans are gearing up for the best in advertising, anticipating a half-time show extravaganza or disaster and pulling out all of the best chip-n-dip recipes.

Volkswagen, who introduced one of the most popular Super Bowl ads of 2011, is back with another Star Wars themed advertisement to bring out your inner-nerd and make you say “awww” all at once.

Meet The Bark Side:

Just the first of many advertisements that will slowly leak before making their official television debut during commercial breaks at XLVI.

As for that half-time show: There will be plenty of other options for those of us not feeling like watching a Modonna extravaganza.

For many, that option could be the ultimate background noise: Puppy Bowl VIII. The canine covered AstroTurf will be home to some adorable puppies that boast silly personal facts like, “Never misses an episode of ‘Bones'” or “Plans to major in Art History.”

As for the party planners of Super Bowl season, start breaking out your seven layer dip recipes. Want to try something different? Try this strong recommendation of hot spinach artichoke dip.
