Thanks for the April Fool’s jokes, internet!

Yes, as most successful April Fool’s jokes begin, I (the joked on, not the joker) forgot today was April Fool’s Day. For a brief moment when I went to hulu.com to find the movie trailer for Source Code I was a little confused, then I giggled a little when I realized that Hulu.com had traveled back in time to 1996 – the year that I got my first AOL screen name and joined the world of the internet. Hopefully you won’t be downgraded to dial-up internet speeds when you want to check out television online from the 1990s – including My So Called Life, The X-Files, and slightly-retro Saturday Night Live clips.

So I caught on a little quicker when I went to view a video at YouTube this morning, and saw that instead of 15 years back like Hulu, the premier viral video site had actually travelled back 100 years time, and asked to suspend your imagination as you watched the Top 5 viral videos of 1911. Yes, these also elicited a giggle, but what cat playing a musical instrument doesn’t make you giggle?

And I knew more had to be out there – and it was. On April 1, Google decided to introduce Gmail Motion. And I’ll tell you want, I’m putting stamp on an email now and sending it out. Thanks technology.
