A recent Lynnwood City Council meeting devolved into a shouting match as angry residents demanded to know why Jessica Roberts was appointed to fill a vacant seat, given her graphic OnlyFans account and alleged questionable Reddit statements.

The Lynnwood City Council was scheduled to meet last Thursday to consider rescinding its appointment for the vacant Position 5 seat after discovering that its original choice, Roberts, operated an OnlyFans account. Before the meeting could take place, Roberts bowed out of the position on her own accord.

According to the Everett Herald, the Thursday meeting was packed. Some held signs with Roberts’ sexually explicit posts printed on them. And many were upset that council members did not end up directly addressing the Roberts appointment. Instead, the Lynnwood City Council addressed the process moving forward

“There’s an elephant in the room, and you’re not addressing it,” one resident said, according to the Herald. “We want to know who bullied who on this.”

The Herald says some in the crowd “began yelling at council members, demanding an apology.” In the end, police escorted the remaining crowd out of the chamber.

How did Lynnwood City Council get here?

After Roberts’ appointment, the Lynnwood Times reported that she had an OnlyFans page.

OnlyFans is a subscription-based platform primarily known for allowing creators to share explicit content — pictures, videos, messages — with their “fans.” Roberts’ account, which has since been shut down, had a profile bio that read: “A bisexual transwoman” followed by graphic details of her body parts.

Then, it was reported that Roberts posted extremely sexually graphic content on Reddit. The Lynnwood Times showed screenshots of explicit messages they say Roberts posted, including referring to women as “prey,” and discussing “grabbing a pretty girl and using her as breeding pet.”

Still, Roberts insisted that her “personal life and identity do not in any way affect my ability to do the job.” She did, however, choose to step down.

“However, I have decided to withdraw my appointment, not because I am unwilling to serve the people in my community, but because the continued scrutiny of my personal life is a potential distraction from the council’s forward progress,” she wrote in a statement.
