The group Invest In Washington Now is organizing a march in Bellevue on April 12 to demonstrate the need for the now-defunct wealth tax.

The march will span from the Tesla Dealership to Amazon’s corporate offices, beginning at 12 p.m.

“Join us in Bellevue…to show our lawmakers that we demand millionaires and billionaires pay what they owe for an economy that works for all of us, not just the wealthy few,” Invest In Washington Now wrote.

The proposed wealth tax is officially dead after Washington Governor Bob Ferguson said he would consider vetoing the idea because it could be challenged in court. It was estimated that it could have created $4 billion to help fill a $16 billion budget hole the state is currently facing.

Senate Majority Leader Jamie Pedersen, D-Seattle, said the party already has “plans B, C, and D” in the works. While those plans are mostly under wraps, they would most likely require significant budget cuts and increases in the state’s property tax.

Dozens of protesters representing the group “Workers Strike Back” made their way into the Washington State Capitol building Wednesday to protest solutions involving both budget cuts and furloughs.

The march is starting outside of the Tesla Dealership at Bellevue Square.
