Multiple community groups from across North Seattle were joined on stage with Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson for the North Precinct Advisory Council’s public safety meeting on Wednesday night.

Neighbors shared stories of rampant drug use, prostitution and gun violence near their homes, parks and businesses.

Wilson took limited questions at the meeting, and while most of the groups on stage demanded accountability from her, at least one organization thanked the Mayor for putting road closures along Aurora Avenue, but added that more action needs to be taken to crack down on crime.

Mayor Wilson said more arrests have been made and provided examples and updates.

“We’ve been successful to diverting a lot of people to treatment and providing other kinds of support whether that’s shelter or housing,” Wilson said.

A spokesperson for the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office also attended the meeting and revealed that the office charged 311 felony cases in North Seattle in 2026.

However, some constituents were not moved by the data, nor by the mayor’s performance.

“The trajectory and the path that Seattle is on is really disturbing,” Erika Nagy said. “[Wilson] is skimming the surface on many of the topics. Many of us submitted questions in advance. She’s not willing to answer them directly.”

SPD hiring bonus katie wilson...

Charlie Harger

Harger: Katie Wilson says she’s not DSA. Fine. The DSA platform says ‘defund the police,’ and SPD’s hiring bonus just got defunded

"No WAY," I told myself. There's no way SPD, short hundreds of officers, working through a rough stretch on morale, and still a little tender from the whole "defund" era, would cut its one big recruiting tool: the hiring bonuses.
