Earthquake hits off Vancouver Island

An earthquake hit off the west coast of Vancouver Island over the weekend.

The magnitude 4.0 quake struck about 162 miles west‑southwest of Tofino at a depth of 6.2 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake hit at 12:23 p.m. Sunday.

People reported feeling the quake in Burlington and Point Roberts, as well as in Victoria, B.C.

No damage or injuries were reported.
