A 3.7 magnitude earthquake struck the northern coast of Washington Monday evening.

The earthquake happened just before 7:30 p.m. Monday, according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network. The quake occurred along the coast near Neah Bay, north of the Olympic National Forest and approximately 34 miles from Forks.

According to KIRO 7, some residents in Port Angeles and Victoria reported feeling some shaking.

Washington has the second-highest risk in the U.S. of large and damaging earthquakes due to the state’s geologic setting. Make sure to follow MyNorthwest’s earthquake tracker for immediate updates regarding local earthquakes.
