Rain, it has been a while!

The weather pattern is finally starting to change after a long stretch of warm and dry weather. We haven’t had measurable rain since July 30th, and we haven’t had a high temperature below 70° since July 16.

Thursday will bring a noticeable change, with more clouds, cooler temperatures, and a few showers as a weak weather system moves through. A few showers are already showing up along the Coast, with more developing inland later Thursday morning and afternoon.

Don’t expect a soaking rain, though. Showers will be very light and spotty, and most of western Washington will either stay dry or pick up less than a hundredth of an inch. You may see a few sprinkles or a brief shower, with the best chance for heavier rain along the Coast and in the Cascades.

Highs will only reach the upper 60s and lower 70s Thursday, and the cooler pattern continues through the weekend.

Friday will be fairly quiet, with a few clouds and perhaps a sprinkle or two.

Saturday brings another disturbance and a better chance for showers, especially around the Convergence Zone in the morning across north King and Snohomish Counties. Even then, rain will be hit-and-miss, and Seattle may struggle to reach 70°.

Sunday looks drier, with morning clouds giving way to afternoon sunshine.

We’ll likely stay dry into Monday morning before another round of rain arrives late Monday and Tuesday, potentially lingering into midweek.

After weeks of warmth and very little rain, we’re finally getting a pattern change — even if the rain coming with it is still pretty limited.
