Two neighbors were arrested and face charges for leaving dead raccoons, squirrels, and crickets throughout a $375,000 foreclosed, bank-owned home in Harbor Springs, Mich.

Marilyn Laffoon, 62, and Dean Carpenter, 57, face charges of home invasion and malicious destruction of property. The two said they left the critters in the home as a joke, and they did it out of “boredom,” according to court records.

Real estate agents first made the discoveries of feces, three dead raccoons, dead and dying squirrels, and an infestation of crickets inside the vacant home, which is owned by First Community Bank. A surveillance camera was placed inside of the home to monitor where the dead animals were coming from.

According to court records, the video footage showed Laffoon “walking through the house distributing something from a large white bucket.”
