A number of “exceptional trees” will be preserved within a 3.6-acre site located just off Lake City Way, but the mobile homes and existing buildings won’t be.
According to permit activity posted on the City of Seattle’s website, reviews of the demolition of existing structures are complete at the University Trailer Park along Northwest 88th Street near the Wedgwood neighborhood. Additionally, the application to excavate the site for future construction was accepted this week.
The mobile homes will be replaced with 89 town homes and parking for more than 130 vehicles.
The site is located on the boundary of Ravenna and Northgate. In documents posted on the city’s website, the developer notes that several of the properties surrounding the mobile home park have not been maintained, “new development in the form of several townhouse sites and a new apartment building to the west are bringing change to the area.”
Last year, when park residents received notice that the site would close in May of 2017, The Seattle Times noted that about 100 residents would have to be relocated.
