...

When it comes to the Super Bowl, on the field the matchup between Denver and Seattle is pretty even. But off the field, there’s no way the Mile High City can hold a candle to us, at least when it comes to music.

The mayors of Denver and Seattle have thrown down the gauntlet with their own play lists they submitted to the music service Spotify.

They might have Manning, but we’ve got Macklemore.

Mayor Ed Murray’s list relies heavily on newer artists like The Head and The Heart, Brandi Carlile and Hey Marseilles.

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock counters with rising Colorado hit makers like the Fray, One Republic and the Lumineers.

Every good team needs some solid veterans, and Murray’s legion of boom is a strong one, including Jim Hendrix’s Purple Haze, Sir Mix A Lot’s Posse on Broadway and Pearl Jam’s Mind Your Manners.

The best Hancock can throw at us is a little John Denver. John Denver?

The Denver mayor tries his best to get some outside help, stacking the deck with Queen’s We Are The Champions and The Black Eyed Peas I’ve Gotta Feeling.

It’s no contest, is it? If there’s any doubt who wins this song show down, Murray saves the knockout punch for last – Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Now that’s a Legion of Boom.
