Discriminated against for a big chest?

Brittany Minder, a senior at Central Kitsap High School, says she wasn’t violating the school dress code with her prom dress – she just couldn’t help exposing cleavage because she has a big bust.

When Brittany arrived at the prom, she was told she had to cover up with a shawl.

Strapless dresses are permitted as long as they follow the school dress code, which requires that lower back, midriff, and cleavage be covered.

She told KOMO 4 News that the school wasn’t enforcing the dress code equally.

“All women are not created equal, and you can not compare a golf ball to a grapefruit. It ain’t gonna happen,” her mother, Kim Minder said.

Dori thinks the school acted reasonably; they didn’t turn Brittany away or make her change, they just made her wear a shawl.

“There’s a lot of cleavage showing in this picture,” said Dori. “What I don’t understand – they all run to KOMO TV to tell this story.”

But Brittany said being singled out “took all the magic out” of the night. She left the prom after about an hour.

The Minder family said they went all the way to Canada to find the dress, made specifically for big-busted women. Brittany says she has worn dresses with similar necklines to other dances without a problem.
