Do you wonder why child care costs are going up so much?

So the WA Policy Center points out the many ways in which, on the heels of the increase in minimum wage, we’re finding out what these changes mean for others.

In Spokane, the owner of the Rainbow Connection child care center says they are either going to have to shut down or raise the per child expense $500 more a month.

The Yakima Herald Republic says a child care center there says they have no way to pay the minimum wage increase in 2018. So they’ll probably have to close.

And a non-profit in Spokane called the Advent Lutheran Child Care center says they know how they’ll deal with this. They’ll increase tuition rates $140 a month per child. The Center says the hike is the result of the minimum wage increase.

One parent who is quoted as being upset by this child care cost hike admitted to voting in favor of I-1433!

Now, I don’t mean to be sardonic, but ‘things costs things.’ Labor is an expense. Why is this hard to understand?

Now maybe this can work in Bellevue. But Spokane, Yakima? Sometimes you get what you ask for. But I’m sure the Democrats will figure all this out.
