Dori, there is no reason in doing your show today in the wake of the shootings. You will spew the same garbage. Like all Republicans, it will be the same old lines. Thoughts and prayers, but no action. You like to blame everything that happens on the Democrats. Well, El Paso sits squarely on the shoulders of Trump and complicit Republicans.

EvergreenHealth shames voters

I, too, received the report card mailer from the EvergreenHealth Foundation. I also received at least six total mailers from them encouraging the passing of the proposition. It almost felt like harassment. Think of the hundreds of thousands of dollars that were spent by the hospital on them.

I got the same flyer from the EvergreenHealth Foundation that you are discussing. I was considering whether to vote for or against this hospital tax. Because of the mailer I received, I will be voting no on their initiative. This is my nearest hospital, and I will not support this type of harassment and privacy intrusion. What a bunch of garbage.

Leave Chappaquidick alone

Mr. Monson, your cruelty in bringing up Chappaquidick in association with the tragic death of a young Kennedy relative exceeded Trump’s mean-spiritedness at his snide comments regarding Elijah Cummings’ home break-in. I find it truly sad that your own bitterness fuels such unnecessary excess in your political commentary. I hope you can find a healthier way to deal with these feelings.

Your ‘how to get out of jury duty free’ card

As a former radio newscaster (getting back in the game next year), I found a pretty legitimate means of getting tossed from the jury pool. When asked if there were any reasons I shouldn’t be on the jury, I replied that there weren’t. However, I added, while as a journalist I would certainly respect the requirement of keeping my opinions on the case to myself, I would likely do at least an on-air feature story or series on the courtroom process from the eyes of a juror, names included. I was excused immediately.

Let kids be kids, don’t worry about gender dysphoria yet

In regards to Mario Lopez and 3-year-olds identifying as boy or girl or whatever — usually young children try on different social and personal roles as they are trying to learn who they are and how they fit into the world. Many times, young boys will say that they are girls, and young girls will stay that they are boys. It is in the best interest of the child to just let them do and identify however they want, not to give it much thought, and not to do anything permanent until they are much older. I remember when my kid was younger, there was a girl in preschool who wanted to be a dog. So every time she came to preschool, she was a dog, and she was very committed to being a dog. She only barked, she sat like a dog, she did not speak, she ate like a dog; it was weird, but that’s what she wanted to do. After a couple of weeks, she was over it. And life went on.

You just have to let little ones do this stuff, and eventually most of them go back to whatever they were born as. Some don’t, and that’s where counseling helps to figure out if it’s actually something that parents need to listen to. I think that is what Mario Lopez was trying to say, but he didn’t succeed very well because he’s an actor and an idiot. Never listen to celebrities, they are ridiculous no matter what ‘side’ they’re on. If we were all a little bit calmer —including those of us who were reacting to those who are overreacting — maybe we can all have a calm discussion about it. But that doesn’t help much in today’s radio ratings, does it?

Chicago is not that bad

Dear Dori, I was raised on the south side of Chicago, in the Projects, down the street from White Sox park. I currently live in Marysville, Washington. I was just in Chicago a week ago to visit family and friends, and eat all my favorite foods, like garlic french fries and deep dish pizza, and Italian sausage sandwiches. Some of these food places are in the rough parts of the city. But the violence was not all that bad compared to a year ago. I was still able to walk around and enjoy myself. Please stop addressing Chicago as a violent place. There are good neighborhoods all over the city. Yeah, you have to be a little streetwise. But overall it really isn’t that bad. I served in the U.S. Navy and have retired. I still remember my first Seafair in 1986. That’s what brought me to live here. Every city has some good and some bad. I love Chicago and I love the great Northwest. But the media really does need to do better and report the good qualities too. Thank you.
