Dori Monson to interview Donald Trump on Monday

Aug 28, 2016, 10:35 PM | Updated: Aug 29, 2016, 9:05 am

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is expected to attend a rally in Everett on Tuesday, but before that he’ll talk with KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson.

You can hear Dori’s interview with Trump on KIRO Radio 97.3 FM on Monday at 12 p.m.

The rally in Everett on Tuesday will be at 7 p.m. at Xfinity Arena. Gates open at 4 p.m. Trump’s campaign added the rally to his official website Friday.

Senator Doug Ericksen (R-Whatcom County) says people attending the Everett rally should expect to see the Republican Nominee doing the things have have been “successful.”

It’s also uncertain if Trump will have any special guests. That too can change on a day-to-day basis, Ericksen explained.

What is certain, according to Ericksen, is the excitement around the rally.

“The response we’ve had so far to the ticket sales has been overwhelming,” he said.

Ericksen says politicians “always come to Washington, visit Medina, take a million dollars and leave.” Not Trump. If there wasn’t going to be a rally, Trump wouldn’t be visiting, according to the senator.

But there will be a fundraiser at an undisclosed location.

“He’s definitely doing that, we just don’t advertise the location,” Ericksen said.

Trump will deliver a detailed speech Wednesday in Arizona on his proposal to crack down on illegal immigration — but it’s anyone’s guess what he will say.

The speech was initially set for last week in Colorado, but was pushed back as Trump and his team wrestled over the details of what he would propose. There has been debate within his campaign about immigrants who haven’t committed crimes beyond their immigration offenses.

Meanwhile, Trump’s campaign is planning its biggest ad buy to date — upward of $10 million on commercials airing over the next week or so.

The campaign expects the ads to air as soon as Monday in nine swing states: Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Florida, where the campaign has already been on the air, along with New Hampshire, Virginia, Iowa, Colorado and Nevada.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates on Dori’s upcoming interview.
