Dori visits Ballard rain garden fail

They’ve only been there for about a year, but the City of Seattle plans to spend $500,000 to rip out its rain gardens in Ballard.

According to the Department of Planning and Development, “the project was not entirely successful because some of the constructed rain gardens did not drain as originally anticipated due to lower-than-expected infiltration rates.”

What happens when water doesn’t drain? Huge puddles filled with nasty mosquitoes.
