Mayor Ed Murray is on the war path. Seattle City Council’s Tim Burgess and Ed Murray are out to a settle a score, having solved all other problems. Having eradicated violent crime, property crime and having dealt with the heroin situation, they’re setting their sights on Airbnb.
Burgess and Murray are extremely distraught that some people are renting out houses for folks to stay in during their vacations in Seattle.
But it’s Seattle’s liberal policies that have erased the middle class from Seattle. It’s hard to get into Seattle, it’s hard to leave and the only places available to live are the high rise tech palaces that hardly anybody can afford; which leaves no room for the middle class.
The city is talking about taking away $30 million dollars in income from Seattle homeowners. That’s what Airbnb says people have earned from renting out their houses. They intend to tell landlords what they can and can’t do with their property.
They create problems and then they pretend to solve the problems.
