Former Sonic plans to sell Florida home at a loss

Former Seattle Sonic Rashard Lewis has been sitting on the sidelines with the rest of the NBA players during the league’s lockout and it now appears he’s decided to cut his losses on his Florida home .

According to Stockworth Realty in Winter Park, Lewis is offering to sell the $4.495 million gated estate he bought in 2007. The home, now priced at $3.95 million has five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a 1,200-bottle wine room and 8,973 square feet of living space. The master suite has a hidden passage to a private office. An outdoor living room features a pool with water deck, outdoor kitchen and fire pit. The three-car garage and extended parking space are reached from meandering Chinese quartzite driveway.

Lewis was chosen by the Sonics in the second round of the 1998 NBA draft and played with the team for nine years. In 2007, he agreed to a six-year, $118-million deal with the Orlando Magic including the final two years guaranteed at $21 million. He was traded to the Washington Wizards in 2010.

The NBA recently announced a tentative agreement to end the lockout and begin play on Christmas Day. Even with the shortened season, it appears Lewis can afford the home-sale loss.
